Reminds me of that paper wallet I gave a friend for his wedding. A couple of years later he converted half of it to Fiat at an ATM. When asked where to send the change, he first scanned the private key. That stayed in the cloud storage of the ATM operator for another couple of years until it was hacked. Aaaand then it was gone.
Gifting somebody BTC will not automatically make them learn even the basics. Sad but true.
