no. a transaction is between me and my counterparty. it isnt "a public act" unless you broadcast it to a transparent chain that anyone with Internet access can audit. there's never going to be a time where Authority just decides to NOT surveil everyone's transparent and publicly recorded transactions. it doesn't depend on the existence of fiat either, they're still coming for their taxes. even if you live completely off their radar, on a transparent chain it only takes ONE merchant doxxing you to reveal your utxo cluster. we are obviously living in an age of increasing surveillance and the normalization of a state of no-privacy. it's not debatable. they're going to map the entire utxo set. Bitcoin pseudonymity only *decreases* with time.

Legend has it that Salvador DalΓ paid for dinners by drawing on the back of his checks. Nobody knows if it's entirely true. Maybe it was Picasso. Maybe the details grew over time, as beautiful stories tend to do. But the mechanism it describes is real: DalΓ had turned his name into a currency. The check wasn't worth the money written on it, it was worth something because he had touched it. The restaurateur didn't cash it because he understood something fundamental: value doesn't live in the object, it lives in the consensus around it. This isn't some quirky principle of contemporary art. It's the principle behind every currency in history. Gold is valuable because enough of us decided it was. The dollar is valuable because we trust whoever issues it. Bitcoin is valuable because a sufficient number of people chose to believe in it, with no one forcing them to. The difference between a banknote and a random piece of paper isn't the material. It's the shared story we build around it. DalΓ may have known this. Or maybe he didn't. But the legend knows it on his behalf. GM πŸ«‚πŸŽ¨

I mean it's alright πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ One time my cousin was in line for Sbarro's pizza and two antagonistic girls cut in front of her in line. My cousin looks sweet, but at the time was a state champion athlete and all of us were raised *~*problematic*~* when it comes to dominance issues so that's not a thing she could let slide. First she politely informed them there was a line and they could get to the back of it. To which they responded by laughing and cussing at her. This put her into berserker mode and a fight started. My cousin beat them into the floor. Her own father pulled her off them, but she was able to get away from him and ended up putting them both in the hospital. As she was a champion athlete and honor roll student and the other girls were strippers with criminal records the judge ended up letting her go with just a warning to not do it again. Come to think of it, I don't know that I've had Sbarro's since πŸ€”

has satshoot published a NIP? as i see it, catallax is a simple protocol available for market builders to use as a straightforward interopable foundation, and it happens ta have a hosted reference client for testing and protocol usage examples. markets, clients and platforms would layer their own business specific complexities on top of the catallax Kinds and at the bottom the events would remain viable to interact with in other competing clients. there is a NIP PR to the nostr repo and a only 3 Kinds involved. Satshoot appears more like a feature-rich platform with plenty of user-friendly opinions baked in and complex ux paths to accomodate platform assumptions and goals. it is open source, but i don't believe there is a NIP published, and i suspect that is because of how rich the data model is. simply, it's not simple, and i don't see their approach as being easy to interop with in other clients.

it isnt an experiment AT ALL. its an alternative explanation that claims atmospheric refraction doesn't exist and observed star position is the true position and ties itself in knots trying to make a dome over a flat earth fit the observable data. because the data shows that the observed occultation of star S over mountan A for two observers at different elevations and distances is NOT explained by simple trigonometry on a flat surface. it matches what you'd expect to find on a curved surface. and if theres no refraction or terrestrial curvature, what causes the difference? apparently they think we should just adjust the dome geometry or something.... theyre understandably silent on this point and only provide single observer measurements. anyway its not an experiment that tests a hypothesis. they just say "refraction doesn't exist and observed star positions are the true positions."

this experiment assumes spherical geometry to calculate "real positions" of stars. ie. It uses the Earth's radius, lat/long conversions to determine where a star "really is." so you see when the star is observably occluded and calculate it's "true position" (based on spherical geometry) and theres a difference between the two, which is traditionally explained by atmospheric refraction. iow, they say the apparent position of a star is true on a flat earth but wrong if on a globe. if you perform an experiment in this way you've either baked spherical geometry into your reference point (the "real star position" that refraction is needed to explain) or your using the apparent position as your reference and are assuming refraction doesn't exist. either way the experiment doesnt prove ANYTHING AT ALL because its not independent of either model. somebody doesn't understand logic and has too much time on their hands.
